Gigalight debuts SFP modules
The new multi-rate SFP module is aimed at 100-GHz C-Band DWDM networks. The module features built-in temperature control and an APD-based receiver. It supports transmission distances up to 120 km and data rates from 100 Mbits/sec to 2.7 Gbits/sec. It's fully compliant with the SFP MSA and the SFF-8472 MSA standard.The second module is a bi-directional hot pluggable SFP with digital diagnostics and LC connector, designed for 1.0625-GBd Fibre Channel and 1.25-GBd Ethernet applications. It features digital diagnostics and is also compliant with the SFF-8472 MSA standard. The digital diagnostics enable real-time monitoring of temperature, supply voltage, laser bias current, and transmitter and receiver input power. It can also enable quick location of errors in the fiber link to simplify maintenance and improve system reliability. Wavelengths supported include 1310/1550 nm, 1310/1490 nm, 1550/1310 nm, and 1490/1310nm.

Luxpert Technologies announces XFP, 80-km SFP+, single channel EDFA
The DLXP-x31xx7-3G 10-km XFP is the first of a family of transceivers to be offered by Luxpert Technologies. The multi-rate module operates from 9.95 to 11.3 Gbps and supports SONET/SDH, 10-Gigabit Ethernet, and 10-Gigabit Fibre Channel standards. It offers a power consumption of less than 1.6 W.Samples will be available in July 2010, with production beginning at the end of 2010.The DLXP-x55xxD-3G 80-km SFP+ features an optical link budget of 24 dB and a typical power consumption of 2.5 W. The DLXP-x55xxD-3G module complies with ITU-T G.959.1 P1L1-2D2 optical standards. Samples will be available in July 2010 with production beginning at the end of 2010.The LXM-AMPY Miniature EDFA features a 65x4x10-mm footprint, less than 1.5-W power consumption, and an intelligent command interface accessible via RS-232 or I2C for control and monitoring. The LXM-AMPY can be used in a booster, line, or pre-amplifier configuration“The Miniature Low-Cost Single Channel EDFA can be a key building block in system and subsystem applications where a compact low-power footprint is required, such as ROADMs and 40G transmitters and receivers,” said Leo Byun, CEO of Luxpert Technologies. “Our history of designing optical subsystems has allowed us to shrink the size and power while not compromising quality or performance.”

ColorChip launches 2.5G bidirectional SFP transceiver
The transceiver is a single-fiber diplexer optical transceiver with an upstream 1,310-nm DFB laser and a downstream 1,490-nm PIN/TIA receiver. The product is based on the company's SystemOnGlass (SOG) technology. The system comprises a mountable glass chip that integrates commercial laser diodes, photodiodes, and electronic and electro-optic components using no free-space elements.CEO Moshe Price says the pluggable transceiver will first enable the PLC chip-based technology for high-speed datacom applications, paving the way for the company to provide more pluggable products for datacom centers and metro applications.ColorChip's new wafer-scale photonics packaging approach uses the company's Ion-Exchange PLC waveguides technology. ColorChip says the technology, which enables simplified photonic integration circuitry (PIC) into optical network terminals/optical network units (ONTs/ONUs), offers a reliable small-form-pluggable (SFP) transceiver with high yield and scalability due to fully automated manufacturing.
