Huawei: Bross exit not linked to US govt report

Juniper Networks quiet on exec's reported appointment.

Huawei has denied there is any link between the unexpected departure late last month of its chief technology officer Matt Bross, and the U.S. government's security concerns over Chinese vendors.
A year-long investigation by the House Intelligence Committee concluded in October that network equipment supplied by Huawei and its cross-town rival ZTE pose a national security threat. Its report urged the government to prevent mergers and acquisitions involving the two vendors and domestic companies.
Matt Bross' departure "was in no way related to the Committee's report," said a Huawei spokeswoman, in an email to Total Telecom last week.
However, Bross was tasked with supporting the company's efforts to grow its sales in North America, an effort that was most likely impeded by ongoing security concerns related to Huawei's alleged ties to the Chinese military, ties that the company has routinely denied.
The spokesperson reiterated the company's official line on Thursday, which stated that Bross "contributed significantly to Huawei's continuous pursuit of customer-centric innovation of products and solutions".
Sources cited by a 10ETEK report at the time claimed that Bross has left Huawei to join Juniper Networks.
A spokesperson for Juniper Networks' in the U.K. declined to comment on the rumours.
