Advanced Photonix/Picometrix boasts $5.9M order for 100G optical receivers

Picometrix LLC, a subsidiary of Advanced Photonix Inc. (NYSE MKT: API), says it has secured a $5.9 million commitment for calendar year 2013 for its 100G and 40G high-speed optical receivers from a prominent telecommunications network equipment customer it would not further identify. Shipments are expected to begin in the company’s fourth quarter of FY2013.

The annual commitment breaks down as $5.2 million for the company’s 100G family of coherent receivers for DP-QPSK modulation and $760K for the company’s 40G receivers for DPSK modulation, both of which are used in long-haul DWDM systems. Picometrix claims to offer the industry’s most complete line of 100G and 40G high-speed optical receivers for both client-side and line-side equipment.

The CR-100A 100G optical receiver uses patented photodiode arrays, an optical photonic integrated circuit, and high-speed linear amplifiers to deliver what the company claims is industry-leading performance. The product comes in the industry standard CCRx multi-source agreement (MSA) form factor, is consistent with the Optical Internetworking Forum’s standards, and supports data rates up to 128 Gbps .
