Regulator asks China Telecom, Unicom to resubmit reform plans


China's National Development and Reform Commission has asked fixed-line network operators China Telecom Corp. and China Unicom (Hong Kong)

Ltd. to submit more specific plans for reforming their practices amid an antitrust probe, saying the plans they have submitted already are

too sketchy, the Economic Information Daily reported Monday, citing a source.

The NDRC said the current plans don't contain specific content or timetables, and don't specifically explain how they will lower user fee

standards, the report said.

China Telecom and China Unicom said earlier this month they had asked regulators to suspend an investigation into their pricing practices.

The NDRC, China's top economic planner, had launched a probe of the companies in what market watchers consider a test of the country's

three-year-old antitrust law.

The probe, which is aimed at the companies' pricing of Internet-dedicated leased-line access services, marks the highest-profile domestic

monopoly case yet against major state-controlled companies.

Second phase of TD-LTE scale-trial: focus on multi-mode terminal


On today's Seminar of 2011 TD-LTE Test Technology, Liu Duo, vice President of Telecommunications Research Institute, MIIT, said that the

second phase of TD-LTE scale-trial will focus on multi-mode terminal.

In April 2011, China officially launched the TD-LTE technology trials in six cities, and not long ago the first phase of testing had

completed, and the second phase will start.

C114 learnt that in the first phase of scale-trial, eight manufacturers had completed all trial projects including IOT testing, single-

system testing and key technology,  the remaining three one are nearing completion.

It is learnt that the second phase of TD-LTE scale-trial will start at the end of this year. Liu said, "The second phase of TD-LTE scale-

trial will focus on multi-mode terminal," She also stressed that, "The global development opportunities of TD-LTE have emerged in 2012, and

2012 is still the critical period of TD-LTE development.
