Sunrise Telecom debuts SunLite UDSL universal service verification set for FTTN/DSL
UGUST 24, 2010 -- Sunrise Telecom Inc. (Pink Sheets: SRTI.PK) has announced immediate availability of the palm-sized SunLite UDSL service verification test instrument. The introduction is in response to service providers’ need to control capital and operating costs by enabling a single, compact device to test the multiple DSL standards being deployed for triple-play services, including those associated with fiber to the node (FTTN). As more carriers transition from DSL-based services to fiber via FTTN, many providers not only use both ADSLx and VDSLx configurations to provide broadband connectivity, but also may be using multiple iterations of each technology. By enabling technicians to use a single device for testing networks and broadband services that employ either ADSLx or VDSLx connections, as well as the different “flavors” of each technology, the SunLite UDSL reduces the need to equip technicians with multiple testers, cutting capex while boosting workflow productivity, Sunrise Telecom asserts.Sunrise Telecom adds that the SunLite UDSL’s user interface also speeds the training time for technicians who may be dealing with unfamiliar or new DSL configurations. This feature helps to reduce opex by speeding up test and service verification deployment. That means shortening customer install times, contributing to stronger quality of experience, better customer retention, and higher ARPU, Sunrise Telecom asserts.“Given its ease of use, attractive price point, and small form, the SunLite UDSL solution is poised to become a key tool that field personnel and system engineers will rely on for test and measurement of their DSL networks,” said Olga Yashkova, industry analyst for Frost & Sullivan. “The SunLite UDSL device also is attractive due to its flexibility. With its ability to test any ADSL connection or VDSL link, the compact, handheld solution is expected to become a must-have device for service providers wanting to get the most out of their DSL networks.”The SunLite UDSL features one-button test capabilities for key modem status measurements and quick deployment for any flavor of DSL. The SunLite UDSL also supports service verification for VoIP and IP video. The SunLite USDL has a 3.5-inch LCD touch screen and weighs less than 1.5 pounds. Its USB host connector enables file management and software upgrades, and the instrument supports test ports for both DSL and 10/100 Ethernet.

Tier 1 Central American service provider taps Enablence again for broadband
JULY 28, 2010 -- Enablence Technologies Inc. says it has secured a follow-on contract from an existing Tier 1 customer. Enablence would identify the customer only as “the dominant telecommunications service provider in its country.”The new contract is for the supply of BroadAccess-1000E systems for deployment at 12 new sites as the customer continues a national deployment of broadband Internet and voice services that began last year. This order follows the successful implementation of a large-scale Multiservice Access Network (MSAN) project, awarded to Teledata Networks in 2009. Last month, Enablence announced that it had completed its acquisition of Teledata to expand its international presence and round out its portfolio of optical access products for next-generation networks with Teledata’s BroadAccess MSAN platform and VDSL2 capabilities. Teledata has become part of Enablence’s Systems Division, while its chief executive, Eran Ziv, has assumed the role of president and general manager of the Enablence Systems International Division. The BroadAccess-1000E enables the customer to deliver voice and broadband applications for residential and business customers, Enablence says. The systems support the multi-functionalities of an MSAG, IP-DSLAM, and Ethernet access switch, providing a choice of services over fiber and copper.
